The concept of having a teacher training facility contiguous to the Fazaia System of Schools and Colleges was conceived by Late Air Vice Marshal Abdul Razzaque SI(M), S Bt in the year 2001. Fazaia Teachers' Training Institute was established through a Chief of the Air Staff directive issued in March, 2001. To begin with the institute had to operate in an outreach mode in September, 2001. On completion of its purpose-built building located at the Air University campus, the Institute launched its formal resident training programmes in October, 2002. Later, in deference to the growing accommodation needs of the Air University at its premises, the Institute vacated its original building and shifted to its present location in year 2008.
